Imran Tahir's Reaction on Pakistan's defeat to Newzealand

Pakistan's 1992 World Cup winning captain Imran Khan fears that their
crushing Group A defeat against New Zealand on Tuesday could lead
to the team self-destructing in this year's tournament.

Here are his thoughts as told to Reuters on Wednesday:
What should captain Shahid Afridi do now after this 110-run defeat?
"I just hope that they don't press the panic button. If they panic they will
destruct and their World Cup campaign will be in tatters. You could see the
players were nervous and tense.
They need to recover quickly."
So what went wrong?
"I say it is good that this defeat has come at this stage of the tournament.
The management must now rethink their team combinations
and define new roles for the players. The batting order has also been wrong.
You can't have your two best players, Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq,
batting low down the order."
How big a setback is it?
"We shouldn't panic. The format is such we have made the quarter-finals
and it is the knockout matches that will matter. The team must now start
preparing for the quarter-final."
Should wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, who twice missed match-winner
Ross Taylor early in his innings, be dropped now?
"There is no other choice right now so the management must persist with
Kamran, make him train hard and shore up his confidence.
Any more experiments will only trigger more trouble."

Irish bat gone missing

Bangalore police confident of locating cricket bats belonging to Ireland's World Cup batsman Niall O'Brien

Police in Bangalore say they are confident of returning six bats belonging to Niall O'Brien after they went missing during Ireland's five-wicket loss to India on Monday morning
The left-hander, whose brother Kevin was the hero in Ireland's win against England, reported the bats as missing when they failed to arrive at Ireland's hotel with the rest of the team's equipment after the match.
O'Brien travelled back to the M Chinnaswamy Stadiumto check for the bats before he reported it to police.
"The case is being investigated and we hope to trace the bag soon," said a Bangalore police spokesman.
The missing bats is an unwelcomed distraction for Ireland ahead of Friday's crucial match with West Indies in Chandigarh.

Umpire review system 'has improved decision-making' at World Cup

• ICC figures show 7% increase in correct decisions
• Indian board had complained about review system
The controversial umpire decision review system has improved correct decision-making by more than 7% at the Cricket World Cup, according to the International Cricket Council.
For the first time at a World Cup, each team has the right to question at least two decisions that go against them during an innings. A third umpire uses the available technology to determine if the on-field officials were correct but the reliability of the UDRS has been questioned.
The Indian Cricket Board, infuriated by Ian Bell's apparent let-off for lbw in the tied match against England, wrote an angry letter to the ICC pointing out the inadequacy it perceives in the system.
The statistics, however, back the ICC's decision to introduce the UDRS for the World Cup. They reveal that correct decisions in the tournament have risen from an average of 90.18% to 97.82% as a result of the system's use.
"It is a fact that the number of [appealed] decisions in this event is way above the normal average for ODIs," the ICC general manager, Dave Richardson, said in a statement. "This is because of the type of wickets that prevail in the sub-continent where the bounce is often lower and where there is a greater amount of turn."

Muhammad Amir's wise descision,Resumes him Studies

Pakistan's banned pace bowler Mohammad Amir has decided to finish his degree during his forced isolation from cricket.
The 18-year-old abandoned his studies when he started globetrotting as his career with Pakistan took off but his promising future was abruptly halted after he was found guilty of corruption by an International Cricket Council tribunal last month.
Handed a five-year ban from the sport, Amir said he wanted to use the time productively.
"I had to leave my college studies because of my full-time career in cricket once I was selected for Pakistan. But now I am trying privately to get a college degree," the teenager said on the Express channel.
"I am passing through the toughest period of my life and I have realised just how important it is to get a good education."
Amir, former test captain Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, were banned for a minimum of five years after being found guilty of bowling pre-arranged no balls during a test against England last year. They are appealing their bans with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The trio also face criminal charges of accepting bribes and trying to defraud in a case brought by Britain's Crown Prosecution Service and must appear in a magistrate's court on March 17 in London.
They all deny any wrongdoing.
Many Pakistan players such as Amir hail from rural backgrounds and are unable to get a good education.
The left arm paceman had been tipped to become one of the best bowlers in the sport after picking up 99 wickets -- across tests, ODIs and Twenty20 matches -- since making his international debut in July 2009.
But with his career now on hold, he said his family suggested he should focus on his studies to remain busy. He did not specify the nature of his degree.
"I have filed an appeal with the CAS through my lawyer and I am hopeful of a good result and I am also going to London next week to attend the magistrates hearing in the Scotland Yard case against us," he added.
"I regret not being able to play in the World Cup but I watch the matches. One thing this episode has taught me is to differentiate between true friends and foes.

BREAKING NEWS:Ajmal Shahzad (ENGLISH FAST BOWLER) suspected ISI agent

Indian officials speaking on condition of anonymity have stated, “We have irrefutable proof that Ajmal Shahzad is a hired agent of the ISI and is working against the interests of India.” It is pertinent to mention that in yesterdays match between England and India, it was likely that India would be able to bag two points however a brilliant knock from the English captain ensured that England did not go down without a fight. It was the six struck by Shahzad that can be marked as the turning point of the game since the Englishmen needed in excess of 10 runs with a few balls remaining.

While talking to the scribe, the Indian officials stated, “There is proof that Ajmal had called up his cousin before the match and said, ‘I’ma kill it, innit.’” Furthermore the officials stated that they had proof that Ajmal was equipped with state of the art cricketing gear that has not yet been seen in the cricketing world.
“His cricketing gear, including his pads, his helmet, his bat, his gloves and his crotch pad was state of the art. This enabled him to hit a massive six straight down the ground which ensured that England go on to tie the match.”
“When we saw it happen, there was little doubt that there has been involvement from Pakistan,” said the official.
Ties between the two bordering nations have been volatile as India has consistently blamedPakistan for cross-border violations. However, this latest effort from Pakistan has certainly left a bad taste in the mouth of cricket-crazy India. As a result of this involvement by the ISI from across the border, India has bagged only one point in the crucial encounter against England during the ICC WC 2011.
The saddest part of this entire episode is the fact that the 98th century of the Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar was rendered useless and the insane amounts of money spent on his endorsements went to waste.
When the scribe contacted Andrew Strauss, the England captain dismissed this suggestion as ‘wild and inappropriate’. “I know people who know people who have known Shahzad since he was a little boy. They say he was born in nowhereabad, a city in Pakistan. He certainly does not have contacts with the Taliban, if that was the case all of us would have been driving around in American army humvees smuggled to England by Shahzad’s friends.”
This is not where the story ends however as it takes a very evil twist. Indian officials have found a piece of Shahzad’s DNA and are trying to match it with that of Ajmal Kassab, the Mumbai terror attacks lone suspect. They say the piece of hair found in the hotel room, where Shahzad was staying is very similar to the piece of hair found on Kassab’s head.
“We will run some DNA on the hair, however by the looks of it the sample of Shahzad’s hair looks awfully similar to that of Kassabs. DNA tests might provide a clearer picture, however it does seem as if Shahzad is related to the Mumbai terror attacks suspect Ajmal Kassab.”
If this is actually the case, then Shahzad might be detained by the Indian police for further interrogation. General Hameed Gul, former DG ISI was unavailable for comments

WC 2011 ...India VS Pakistan FINAL........?

The World of sport is about rivalries and indeed being such a sports nut. I could list many bitter and hotly disputed rivalries. Though in truth none could come close to the rivalry between Pakistan and India.
Some might come close, some might boast there as big, but none are a patch on it!
This bitterness and tension between the two always heightened when the two are kept away from each other through the whims of the respective Governments of the two fine Nations.
Going on the the mistrust that is nurtured by the two through fear mongering for tension represents money for governments and takes away from issues of greater importance. Granted their is an underlying tension between the citizens of both Nations based on tragedies of the past, but for the most part they just want Peace. Also outside of that desire, they want cricket between the two to resume. As all us cricket fans do!
Though that is another article and another set of connotations to look at,but here in this World Cup. Fate might conspire to make this happen. And if it did.... my word would we have a spectacle at Mumbai for the Final!
In truth its not so far fetched either in the face on Pakistan looking very unlike Pakistan in regards to being a very unified and composed unit. To go with their already truck loads of skill and magic. Which makes them a very hard foe to slay.
Then you have India, who is an irresistible batting juggernaut, who has no peer in that regard. Though the emergence of lesser lights in their bowling such as Munaf Patel to aide the mainstays like Zaheer and Harbhahjan is like gold. For it makes their bowling adequate enough to compliment their awesome batting strength.
So all this amounts to is this.
The very real chance of both Nations finishing on top of their Group which would pave the way for a meeting in the World Cup Final. This in the wake of Pakistan beating Sri Lanka, you can be reasonably confident of Pakistan achieving this (though yes it is Pakistan and they could lose to Zimbabwe!).
The only real road block might be the Aussies, but they aren't the threat their being made out to be. In the Indian Hyderabad, Group B and South Africa sadly might be the road block for this sweet dream coming true.
So were all hoping for a few hamstring twinges for Steyn, De Villiers, Kallis and the like so India can finish top.
Giving the chance for an India versus Pakistan World Cup Final and a spectacle that would have no compare!
